Number of users: 90 Millions

Type of crowd: Mainly singles in their 20s/30s looking for friendship, casual dating and serious relationships.

Time to set up an account: Fast (Around 15-30 mins)

What we love: The ease to create a profile and the large localized pool of singles

What we don’t like: There are no algorithms. You pretty much have to find your match yourself. We don’t recommend limiting the use to the “swiping right and left” features.

Serious relationships can spark on POF but it’s not as common. You can find tons of hook-ups but the love of your life might be hidden somewhere in the crowd of profile.

The free version allows to use the app pretty optimally. Using POF is great if you’re looking for fun and making quick connections. It’s free, give it a try. You never know what can happen

*Usability:

The interface is not that great. Logging out is a whole process. The carousel of pictures is nice but once you click on a profile, you can’t access the same choice of pictures as the carousel changes once you go back. So if there was another profile/picture you liked, it’s gone…. Good luck finding it again!

The site experience could be optimized. The Meet Me feature is great Tinder-like. It allows you to swipe-left/swipe-right (non-)potential daters.

EXTRA TIPS: How to better use it?

Read profiles, note relevant elements from their profile, send unique and thoughtful messages to members you have common interests with. Be very patient…. You most certainly won’t get answered right away.

On your profile, make sure you fill out everything and be honest. Going around the truth makes you seem shady and not trustworthy. Pictures and lightly filled profile are not enough!

Be inviting. Post pictures of yourself. Portrait and full body. Smile, post pictures of yourself doing something that you love. Let your personality shine through. (Be uncommon. What do you really like? Show who you really are. etc.). Avoid pictures of your friends and family. Keep your pictures with your exs for yourself ( as a matter a fact, get rid of them!). Roughly photoshopping them is not ok either.

Ladies, If you’re looking for a serious relationship or at least a man that will contact you for your profile and not your physique! Lose the pictures with full disclosure of your breast and behind.

Gentleman, Lose the shirtless pics. Do you want to be picked for your brain or your look?

Complete your profile entirely. Nobody wants to date somebody that says: “ I work” instead of their real job. I know some of you think putting your real job or salary will not serve you. Apparent shadiness doesn’t either!
