Now that summer is here, Central Park is the ideal free park to be. Visual masterpiece, it is heaven in the heart of the City. There are so many things to enjoy that you’ll have to come back for more: bike riding, tours, strolling, rollerblading, yoga, attractions…
Hop on the free-ride ferry to enjoy a relaxing afternoon on NYC Oasis island, Governor’s Island. Among others, revel in biking, summer events and outdoor art.
STATEN ISLAND FERRY
More than a connector between Manhattan and Staten Island, The SI Ferry offers a nice ballad on the Hudson River with a beautiful view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
BROOKLYN BOTANICAL GARDEN
This gorgeous Brooklyn “landmark” is a nice peaceful retreat right in the heart of the City. If you like floral diversity and natural beauty, this will be a piece of paradise for you.
Bryant Park is scene of a rich and dynamic visual, cultural and intellectual outdoor experience for New Yorkers and visitors. You can go there to sit down on chairs or lay down on grass or simply have fun playing at chess, ping-pong or petanque.
THE HIGH LINE
Located on Manhattan’s West Side, the High Line is an elevated freight rail line beautifully transformed into a public park. And yes, it is more romantic and spectacular than it seems. Many couples just like to walk around or lay down on the deck chairs.
Being Manhattan’s most note-worthy waterfront park, it extends from 72nd to 158th street and ring out an ideal view of the Hudson River. Just lovely!
CLAY PIT PONDS STATE PARK PRESERVE
This native preserve is located on Staten Island. Ecological treasure, it unveils unique habitats (woodlands, ponds, wetlands, spring-fed streams, sand barriers…). To discover or rediscover while appreciating a nice walk!
Located in the Bronx Park, the Bronx Zoo is THE “WildLife Park” of the Tristate area and the world’s largest metropolitan zoo. Surprise him/her, with this resourceful date. Enter for free or pay as you wish on Wednesdays.
We are already half way into summer but it’s still time to attend one of the Summerstage events blossoming all over the city. Most concerts, screenings and classes are free. Timeout has put the full Summerstage 2014 line up for us. Some shows may have a small fee (for benefit).
